Senior Process Engineer

Our East Houston chemicals client is seeking a Senior Process Engineer who can offer technical expertise to mitigate risks associated with chemical plant enhancements, daily operations, and ensuring the safety and consistency of processes deployed onsite.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct operational support to ensure both short-term and long-term plant objectives are consistently advanced and achieved.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and onsite personnel across all levels to devise new, safe, and efficient performance solutions and enhance production.
  • Implement industry guidelines and standards, troubleshoot technical issues, and propose cost-effective resolutions to plant-related challenges.
  • Develop the process design foundation for chemical projects.
  • Create, modify, and analyze process flow diagrams (PFD) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for the plant.
  • Conduct process modeling, hydraulic calculations, and simulations.
  • Generate instrument data sheets and specifications, along with comprehensive documentation for work activities.
  • Participate in client hazard reviews and process hazard analysis sessions.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional project teams to mitigate organizational risks.
  • Provide support during plant turnarounds and major maintenance activities.
  • Adhere to environmental, health, and safety standards, including process safety management (PSM) protocols.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technical (ABET) institution; master’s degree preferred.
  • Ten or more years of experience supporting engineering functions in continuous processing plants within the chemical or petrochemical sectors, with a preference for polymer experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated expertise in process engineering and technology.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated environments is desirable.

  • Demonstrated decision-making ability and discretion.
  • Capability to work independently or as part of a team to meet organizational objectives and deadlines.
  • Proficient in using and troubleshooting distributed control systems (DCS).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, and safety procedures.
